Here’s a little secret hack:
Not every back pain comes from your back. Sometimes, the culprit is a weak core or underactive pelvic floor — surprise! Your body is more connected than you think, and that’s where I love connecting the dots.
I’m Shirley Gaikwad, a pelvic health physiotherapist with three years of experience in physiotherapy and two wonderful (and slightly quirky) years dedicated exclusively to pelvic health.
I specialize in urogynecology, colorectal, obstetrics, and yes—even men’s pelvic health (because why should girls have all the fun?). My approach is equal parts precise and compassionate, with a sprinkle of humor to make conversations about pelvic floors a little less awkward and a lot more empowering.
I’m passionate about helping people regain confidence, comfort, and control through evidence-based care. Pelvic health might be a quiet subject, but I take pride in making sure it’s never overlooked. For me, it’s more than a profession—it’s a calling I love and pour my whole self into.
I began my journey in physiotherapy at Mahatma Gandhi Mission Institute of Health Sciences, where a single subject — gynaecology — opened my eyes to how often women’s health is shrouded in taboo. Many hesitated to seek help, not because they didn’t need it, but because silence felt easier than support. That silence made me curious, then determined.
After completing my Master’s at Manchester Metropolitan University, I worked with the NHS as a pelvic health specialist, guiding patients through some of their most personal and vulnerable challenges. Along the way, I’ve learned that care isn’t just about treatment — it’s about conversation, education, and making people feel seen and heard.
Now, I bring that same passion (with a touch of quirk and plenty of compassion) to create a safe, dignified space where no concern is “too small” or “too awkward.” Because every patient deserves more than care, they deserve comfort, confidence, and a champion in their corner.
So, what do I actually do? Think of me as your go-to for all things pelvic and beyond. I help patients with:
Pelvic floor rehab (yes, the muscles no one talks about!)
Incontinence treatment (because leaking shouldn’t be your new normal)
Post-natal & antenatal recovery (supporting mums before and after birth)
Bowel & prolapse treatment (restoring confidence where it matters most)
Chronic pelvic pain & sexual health physiotherapy (making conversations less awkward and more empowering)
Core strengthening & Pilates (your core is more than just abs — it’s your powerhouse)
Pre- & post-surgical rehab (helping you prepare and bounce back)
