Autologous PRP uses a small sample of your own blood, concentrating platelets that release growth factors (PDGF, TGF‑β, VEGF) to signal repair, collagen formation and angiogenesis in the dermis.

At Dr Hans Clinics, we use it to support texture, fine lines, tone and under‑eye quality when clinically appropriate

Why patients choose PRP here

Doctor‑led protocol with sterile handling and dosing standards.
Medical before and after photography with Quantificare Life Viz system
Tailored plans (PRP alone or combined with microneedling/energy devices) based on skin biology, not packages.
Honest outcomes - useful for texture/quality; not a substitute for surgery or deep volume loss.

How PRP works

We draw a small amount of blood and spin it to isolate platelet‑rich plasma.
Platelets release growth factors that wake up fibroblasts → new collagen I & III and elastin; they also support micro ‑ circulation and tissue repair.
With microneedling, micro‑channels enhance penetration and add a second collagen‑induction stimulus. Evidence for the combo is mixed (see below), so we recommend it only when it adds value.

What the evidence says

Overall: Reviews suggest modest improvement in skin quality/texture and fine lines for suitable patients; study heterogeneity is high.
Eyes/texture: Best signals are for periorbital quality and texture.
With microneedling: Some studies show benefit; a recent randomized trial found no significant improvement vs control for laxity/rhytides - so we don’t “upsell” the combo if it’s unlikely to help.
Mechanism: Benefits are biologically plausible via PDGF/TGF‑β/VEGF‑mediated remodeling.

Indications we consider

Early fine lines, dull/rough texture, enlarged pores
Under‑eye quality (crepiness), mild pigmentation irregularity
Acne‑scar remodeling (often combined with microneedling/energy devices)

When we don’t recommend it

You’re seeking immediate tightening/lift → better suited to energy devices or surgery.
Significant volume loss → consider fillers/biofiller/collagen stimulators.
Unrealistic expectations or time pressure for big events.

Safety, side effects & who isn’t suitable

Common: Redness, swelling, bruising, tenderness for 24 - 72h.
Rare/serious (especially with poor technique): Infection/contamination; injections in high‑risk zones can theoretically cause vascular events - this is why PRP must be done by trained clinicians under aseptic protocol.
Not suitable: Active skin infection, bleeding disorders, anticoagulation that cannot be paused, platelet dysfunction, severe anemia, pregnancy/breastfeeding, or recent isotretinoin (individual assessment). General safety overview: Johns Hopkins.

Treatment plan & downtime

Sessions: Typically 3 - 4 sessions spaced 4 - 6 weeks, then maintenance 6 - 12 months if helpful (tailored after review). Evidence varies; we decide after your response to session 1 - 2.
Procedure time: 45 - 60 minutes (including blood draw and prep).
Downtime: Pinkness/tightness 24 - 48h; makeup next day; avoid saunas/intense exercise for 24h; SPF mandatory.

Review and treatment plan

PRP alone vs PRP + Microneedling - when we combine

We combine when texture / scarring is the priority (dual collagen stimulus).
For under‑eyes, we often use PRP injections alone (thin skin, targeted placement).
We do not bundle the combo by default; recent RCTs question universal benefit.

Alternatives we may discuss

Skin boosters (e.g., hyaluronic acid) for hydration/quality
Collagen stimulators (e.g., calcium hydroxylapatite) for structure
Energy devices (Tixel, RF microneedling, CO₂) for tightening/texture
Polynucleotides / exosomes in selected cases for cellular signaling (evidence evolving)

What to expect

1 - 2 weeks: Skin feels smoother / more hydrated.
6 - 12 weeks: Collagen remodeling → texture/quality improvements become clearer.
3 - 6 months: Review; decide on maintenance. (Timings vary by age, sun history and baseline skin.)

Clinical Before & After Results with PRP / PRF Skin (+/- Microneedling)

Pricing

  • Single session £300

    (includes microneedling)

  • Course of 3 sessions £850

We usually recommend 3 – 4 sessions spaced 4 – 6 weeks apart for best results, followed by maintenance if helpful. Pricing is reviewed in consultation depending on the exact areas treated.

Important Information

Information is educational and not a substitute for medical advice.
Treatments are offered only after a face‑to‑face consultation with a qualified clinician and only if clinically appropriate.
We do not promote prescription‑only medicines to the public; where relevant, we promote the consultation.

A Note on Transparency

PRF EZ Gel Biofiller is frequently marketed in ways that overstate what it does. Claims of long-lasting structural volume, permanent regeneration, or results comparable to dermal fillers aren’t supported by the current evidence. The published literature on plasma gel treatments is still relatively limited, and most studies are small and early in their design.

What we can say with reasonable confidence: PRF Biofiller improves subtle hollowing and early volume loss in suitable patients, delivers some regenerative stimulus through the PRF component, and does so without synthetic material. Results are real but modest, and maintenance is part of the treatment.

We think patients deserve to know that before they book. The consultation is where we work out whether this treatment makes sense for you, and if something else would work better, we’ll recommend that instead.

Evidence-based treatments in skin, hair, body and regenerative medicine. Safety, honesty, and precision at the heart of every procedure.

FAQ's

PRP (your own platelets) releases growth factors – PDGF, TGF‑β, VEGF, EGF/FGF, IGF – that signal fibroblasts to repair the dermis. This supports collagen I/III, elastin, angiogenesis and hydration. Results vary and treatment is offered only if clinically appropriate.

What is PRP?

Your own platelets concentrated from a small blood draw. Platelets release growth factors that signal repair and collagen formation.

We use topical anaesthetic. Most patients describe mild pricking / tightness that settles within 24 – 48h.

Commonly 3 – 4 sessions 4 – 6 weeks apart; we individualise based on response and goals.

Generally well – tolerated because it’s autologous. Minor redness/bruising are common; serious issues are rare when performed with sterile technique by trained clinicians.

Usually yes. Expect redness and pinpoint marks for 24 – 48h; avoid heavy exercise/sauna that day.

Some studies suggest an additive effect; others show no clear advantage for laxity/rhytides. We recommend the combo only if your indication supports it.
